He was predeceased by: his brother Agostinho Silva; and his siblings-in-law, Maria and Jose Ferreira. He is survived by: his daughter Arminda Smith; his son-in-law Michael Smith; his grandchildren, Kristie Pereira and James Smith; his sisters, Maria Augusta Silva (Antonio Ferreira) of Lourdes Ferreira and Laurentina Silva (Jose Silva); and his brother-in-law Joaquim Ferreira (Maria). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
