He was predeceased by : his parents, Ellen Sims and Jasper Artis. He is survived by : his wife Barbara L. Joyner; and his children, Willie, Maurice, David Joyner (Liza), Vickie Joyner-Younger (Dion) of Connecticut and Roxie Joyner of Connecticut.

Visitation was held on Friday, July 5th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 1441 Dixwell Ave, Hamden, CT 06514. A funeral service was held on Friday, July 5th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
