Ruth A. Hamel Obituary
We are sad to announce that on July 9, 2023, at the age of 90, Ruth A. Hamel of Hamden, Connecticut, born in East Boston, Massachusetts passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William P. Coughlan and Ruth Coughlan; her husband Donald Hamel Sr.; her siblings, Barbara McGeorge, William Coughlin and James Coughlin; her niece Donna Lecluyer; and her grandson Robert Whittaker.
She is survived by: her children, June M. Watt (Jonathan) of Pennsylvania, Robert G. Hamel (Geralyn) of North Haven, Stephen M. Hamel of North Carolina, Donald E. Hamel Jr. (Deborah) of North Haven, Elizabeth A. Hamel, Rose Poggioli (Frank) of Wallingford and Mary T. Thrash (Van) of Virginia. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
