He was predeceased by: his father Cristino Rodríguez; and his brother Arturo Mercado. He is survived by: his mother Margarita Rodríguez of New Haven; his wife Lillian Ortíz-Rodríguez; his children, Joshua "JJ" Rodríguez of Hamden, Tara Carmona (Alex) of Boca Ratón, FL and Bianca Rodríguez of Berlin, CT; his grandchildren, Jordyn and Sienna Carmona of Boca Ratón; his siblings, Caleb Rodríguez (Valerie) of West Haven and Millie McFarland (Mike) of New Haven; his sisters-in-law, Jennie Lee Mercado of West Haven and Alicia López of Lakeland, FL; and his brother Juan Ocasio of Zephyrhills, FL. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Promise Land Church of God (240 Burwell Rd, West Haven, CT 06516). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the same location.
