He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Brine and Margaret Flanigan Brine; and his brother John Brine. He is survived by: his children, Mark Brine (Linda), Molly Brine (Ian Paul), Omneya "Nini" Mazen, Nevert "Beata" Mazen and John Parziale; his grandchildren, Max Brine (Jackie), Michael Brine and Kyle Mazen Carpentier; his sister Carol Shea (Bill); his nieces and nephews, Bill, Tim, Karen and Brenda; his sister-in-law Betty Anne Brine; his nieces, Denise and Evelyn; his nephew John; and also Egypt.
Dr. Brine's work was recognized with many awards for excellence and his contributions to the fields he dedicated his life to.
