He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Augusta (Robert) of Madison, Ralph L. Abato, Jr. (Sandra Brown) of New Britain and Elizabeth Hunter (James) of Hamden; his grandchildren, Michael, Andrew Barth, Ryan (Kelsey), Sara Hunter and Kristin Abato; his sister Annette Zettergren; and his friend Guilford.
