It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joseph Birkle of Groton, Connecticut, who passed away on February 10, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph W. Birkle and Irene Helmick; and his stepmother Faye Birkle. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Deven Birkle of Brownsville; his daughters, Christina Guarino (Raymond) of East Haddam, Conn, Devon Robarge (William) of Groton, Conn, Greta Jones (Jonathan) of Mystic, Conn and Gretchen Birkle (Antonio) of Washington, DC.; his grandchildren, Kevin (Kristen), Eric Weisensee (Tressan), Benjamin (Angelina), Michael Guarino (Susanna), Jonathan (Caitlin) and Elizabeth Jones (Anis); and his sister Antoinette. He is also survived by four loving sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Church (56 Sacred Heart Dr, Groton, CT 06340). The military honors was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery (252 Mitchell St, Groton, CT 06340).
