As Betty Jean departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Betty Jean may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Betty Jean leaves behind.

She was predeceased by: her parents, George Allen, Sr. and Evelyn May Grimes (Chapman); her sisters, Karen, Pamela and Linda Grimes; and her significant other Ellen Bittman.

She is survived by: her sons, Vernon McDade, Jr. (Stefania McDade) of New London and Robert McDade, Sr. (Dawn Burgess) of Groton; her adoptive son Patrick Santora, IV (Samantha Santora) of Groton; and her brother George Grimes, Jr. of East Lyme. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
