With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard L. Butler of Groton Long Point, Connecticut, born in Hartford, Connecticut, who passed away on May 21, 2023 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Richard Hartwell Butler and Elizabeth Newell Butler; his wife Alice Standard Butler; his children, Betsy Thorp, Margie Butler and Rick Butler; his children-in-law, Christopher Thorp and Liz Butler; his grandchildren, Peter, Elias Thorp, Erin and Abby Butler; and his brothers, Bob Butler, Hank Butler and John Butler. He was also cherished by his nephews, nieces and cousins.
Memorial donations may be made to the New London Homeless Hospitality Center or Groton Open Space Association.
