He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel and Laurinda Mendes; his daughter Tammy Mendes Snyder; his grandson John Paul Mendes; his brothers, Orlando and Thomas Mendes; his stepmother Maria Batista Mendes; and his sister-in-law Mary Mendes.
He is survived by: his wife Rosemarie Mendes of Granby; his son John Mark; his children-in-law, Mary Beth Mendes and Jay Snyder; his grandchildren, Laura, Jenna Snyder (Alex Richardson), Drew Mendes (Hannah McCall) and Jillian Boxall (Matthew Boxall); his great grandchild Eloise Boxall; his nephews, Mark and Michael Mendes; and his niece Melissa Hickey (Mendes).
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Church of Our Lady of Fatima (50 Kane Street, Fatima Square, Hartford, CT 06110).
