He was predeceased by : his wife Faye J. Mitchell (Gantnier); his parents, Earl Mitchell and Olive Mitchell (Turner); his close friend Lorraine Keeney; and his brother Herbert Mitchell.

He is survived by : his children, John P. Mitchell of Glastonbury, James E. Mitchell (Dori) and Juanita Dutton (James) of Glastonbury; his grandchildren, Philip Mitchell (Meg Taylor), Kristin Mitchell, Ashley Gionfrido (Matthew), Drew Mitchell (Courtney), Jessica Dutton and Justin Dutton (Nicole Roncaioli); his great grandchildren, Garrett, Skylar, Logan and Olivia; and his niece Dawn Mitchell of Colchester.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 18th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Mulryan Funeral Home (725 Hebron Ave, Glastonbury, CT 06033). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, June 19th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Dunstan Church (1345 Manchester Rd, Glastonbury, CT 06033).
