He was predeceased by: his parents, Salvatore Butera and Emanuela Butera (Albanese); his wife Marguerite Butera (Scalise); his siblings-in-law, Angie Butera, Lucille S. Higgins, Faith Churchill and Pasquale Scalise; and his son-in-law James Blake.
He is survived by: his brother Matthew Butera; his children, Mary Anne Pescosolido (Peter), Theresa Blake, Joseph Butera (Lisa), Michael Butera (Malorie) and Tom Butera (Becky); and his brother-in-law John Churchill. He is also survived by several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
