It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Moore Downie of Gales Ferry, Connecticut, born in Brooklyn, New York, who passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his wife Nancy E. Sherman Downie; his children, Thomas D. Downie (Deborah Motycka Downie) of Stonington, Catherine Downie of Groton, Diane Downie (Randall Otte) of Nashua, NH and Marianne Downie (Jonathan Housum) of West Hartford; his grandchildren, Captain Connor Downie (Stacey), Sarah Downie, Jessica Downie, Richard Otte, Amanda Otte, Britton Housum and Chauncey Housum; and his great grandchildren, Logan, Gavin and Declun Downie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Byles Groton Memorial (310 Thames St, Groton, CT 06340). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (1650 CT-12, Gales Ferry, CT 06335).
