He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Buell Butler and Sarah Butler (Taylor); his daughter-in-law Caroline Butler; and his sister-in-law Suzy Bronstein (Martin). He is survived by: his wife Penny Jane Butler (Martin); his grandson John Butler (Lori) of West Hartford; his sons, Dylan, Wyatt and Bill Butler (Jodi) of South Burlington, VT; his grandchildren, Sierra and Jules; his son Bob Butler of Enfield; his grandchildren, Samuel and Tiffany; his son Tom Butler (Barbie) of West Hartford; his grandchildren, Ava, Harrison and Lena; his son Tim Butler (Karly) of East Granby; his grandchildren, Henry and Lilly; and his siblings, Judy Shea (Jim) and Ted Butler (Vicki). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill's name may be made to the NEAG Cancer Center Bone Marrow Transplant Fund, Conn Health-NEAG Cancer Center, Attn: Patty Smith, 263 Farmington Ave., Farmington, CT 06030-1834, with a note stating the specific intent. Other suggestions from Bill's family would be to donate blood at the American Red Cross.
