Sheldon D. White Obituary
Sheldon D. White, 93, of Fairfield, died on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Cambridge Health & Rehab Center in Fairfield. Born in New York, the son of the late Kenneth and Josephine (Burdick) White, he was also predeceased by his sister Penelope White.
Sheldon served in the US Army during the Korean War, and had worked as an accountant.
Sheldon enjoyed skiing with his daughter Susan. He was very proud that she went to college in Vermont and also trained to be a ski instructor.
Sheldon enjoyed being a "grandpop" and spent many Christmases with his daughter and grandchildren on their farm in Maine. He enjoyed all of the farm animals, but he was especially fond of the family golden retriever.
While raising his family with Susan's mom, summers were spent in an old farm house, on a cove, in Waldoboro, Maine. Sheldon loved the beach, and he loved Maine.
A proud moment in his life was when his oldest grandson, Christopher, chose to go to Norwich University (military) in Vermont. He attended many parent weekends with Susan and Christopher's brothers watching military activities. Christopher graduated as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force and 20 years later is now a Colonel.
He is survived by his daughter Susan Palmer, three grandsons, Christopher, Andrew and Matthew Hagemeyer, two great grandchildren, Grayson and Lillian White Hagemeyer. He was so proud of all of his grandsons.
A Memorial Service will be held privately by his family.
