We are sad to announce that on January 5, 2025 we had to say goodbye to Joann Van Esselstyn of Fairfield, Connecticut. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
In the vast expanse of eternity, Joann Van shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Joann Van farewell, her loved ones carry with them the precious gift of her memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
She was predeceased by: her parents, German Tummel (Hanny) and Franz Tummel; and her siblings, Kenneth Tummel and Evelyn Brethauer. She is survived by: her husband Douglas F. Van Esselstyn of Fairfield; her children, Gretchen Van Esselstyn (Kevin Whelan) of Brooklyn, NY and David Van Esselstyn (Jennifer Ball); and her granddaughter Margo Lee Van Esselstyn.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Spear Miller Funeral Home (39 S Benson Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824). A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the First Church Congregational (148 Beach Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824).
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Learning Center, Bridgeport CT (https://mercylearningcenter.org) where Joann volunteered for many years.
