He was predeceased by: his wife Evelyn Weidl (Mendick); his parents, Joseph and Florence; and his brother Douglas Weidl. He is survived by: his children, Patricia Bessette (David) of Rockville, MD, Shelley Weidl of Bowie, MD and Michael Weidl of Glastonbury; and his grandson Michael Bessette. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

“Dear Weidl Family.....My name is Nancy. I am so sorry about your loss. Mr. Weidl was a special, and gentle gentleman and will be sadly missed by those who were privileged to know him. I had called Mr. Weidl some months ago to read him some comforting Bible Scriptures; I then gave him to a friend, Jack, who continued talking with him.
