He was predeceased by: his parents, Emory Stuart and Elizabeth Stuart; his siblings, Beverly, Clayton, Emerson and Patricia; and his grandson Adam.

He is survived by: his wife Helen Galvin; his children, Marie Liebman (Leon), Joanne Briody (Charles), James Stuart, Eileen Kenny (Michael) and Paul Stuart (Jill); his grandchildren, Patrick, Alyson, Spencer, Christopher, Daniel, David, Maura, Nolan, Hunter, Galvin and Libby; his great grandchildren, Jack, Eddie and William; his daughter-in-law Jean; and his caregivers, Joanne and Filanza. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, a close and wonderful extended family.
