Ronald Barbero Obituary

The world has lost a gentle soul. Ronald H. Barbero, 86, of Rockville, CT passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at home with his loving wife Louise by his side. Ronald had been suffering from Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's disease for many years.

He was born in 1935, in Rockville, CT to Anthony Louis and Anna (Ludecke) Barbero. They preceded him in death along with his daughter Terri Lee-Ann; sister Dora and her husband Napoleon Allard-Wiley; brother-in-law Frank O'Coin; his brothers and their wives John and Dorothy, Francis and Sally, and Alfred and Priscilla Barbero and his sister-in-law Eleanor Barbero. He is survived by his wife Louise; son Ronald Gregory and wife Robin Klein-Barbero, his best pal and grandson Joshua Barbero; daughter Lori and her husband Rafael Pagan; sister Jean O'Coin; brother Louis Barbero, and many cherished nieces, nephews, their children and extended family.

He attended the Pollywog School in Rockville and graduated from Rockville High School in 1954 where he lettered in basketball and baseball. In 1959 he married Louise (Mantie) and together they had 3 children, Terri Lee-Ann, Ronald Gregory and Lori Ann Marie. Ron worked as a manager at First National Store and as a realtor for Colli-Wagner, Westledge and Prudential Realty. He enjoyed teaching new realtors about business ethics. Ron loved his church communities of First Lutheran Church, St. Bernard's and St. Luke's Catholic Church. He was a faithful communicant and served as an RCIA teacher and parish council member.

Ron was blessed with an excellent sense of humor. He was a passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox and the UCONN Women's Basketball team. He enjoyed being with his family and he will be greatly missed. Ron was lovingly cared for at the end of his life by caretakers from Caregivers Connecticut, Companions and Homemakers and VNHSCHospice/Palliative Care. The family is very grateful for the care and love they gave not only to Ron but to his entire family.

A funeral will be held at 10:30 AM at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ellington on November 3, 2021. The burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Rockville. Afterward, there will be a celebration of his life at his favorite restaurant.

Ron's wish was that a cure would be found for Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia. He donated his brain to the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center in the hopes that continued research will help find a cure. In lieu of flowers, we request that memorial donations be made in Ron's name to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at https://www.lbda.org or c/o Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road, SW, Lilburn, GA 30047.
