Joan W. McNamara Obituary

We are sad to announce that on February 7, 2025 we had to say goodbye to Joan W. McNamara of East Lyme, Connecticut. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Leo J. McNamara; and her parents, John H. Wade and Sophie Nielsen Wade. She is survived by: her brother Niel (Karen Wade) of Chapin; her children, Lynn (Paul Kelly) of Fairfield and Jeffrey (Jean McNamara) of East Lyme; her grandchildren, Drew Kelly (Lily Stoelting), Ben Kelly, Reed Kelly, Lauren McNamara (Casey Fitzpatrick), Leigh Gianakos (Peter Gianakos) and Wade McNamara (Madison Horner); and her great grandchildren, Leo, Maeve Gianakos, Rory and Max Fitzpatrick.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home (48 Grand St, Niantic, CT 06357).

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joan's memory to the Leo J. McNamara Memorial Scholarship, which has been established through the East Lyme Scholarship Association, c/o Chelsea Groton Bank, 21 Pennsylvania Avenue, Niantic, Connecticut.
