He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter H. Steuernagel, Sr. and Dorthea Steuernagel (Schnoor); his sister Ethel Tenson (Steuernagel); and his stepsiblings, E. Paul Smith, Audrey DiPinto (Smith) and Beverly Sewell (Smith).
He is survived by: his wife Carol Steuernagel (Dohan); his sons, Chris Steuernagel of Tampa, FL and Craig Steuernagel (Mary Ann) of Cromwell; and his grandsons, Matthew Steuernagel (Amanda Potts) of Cromwell and Cameron Steuernagel of Tampa, FL.
