He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Schmittberger and Anna Schmittberger (Seedorf); and his brother Joseph. He is survived by: his sons, Robert Schmittberger (Sharon) of East Haddam, William Schmittberger (Sharon) of East Haddam and Donald Schmittberger (CJ) of Georgia; his grandchildren, Lindsay Gowac (Keith), Janelle Schmittberger and Lauren Schmittberger; and his great grandchild Henry Gowac. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.
