He was predeceased by: his parent Elbertus Archer Briggs. He is survived by: his spouse Mildred Briggs (Bean); his parent Helen Keech Briggs; his children, Barbara Briggs Scripps (Sebastian) of New Canaan, CT, Kenneth C. Briggs of Dayville, CT, Katherine Scripps, Julia Scripps and James Briggs; his great grandchild Briceson Briggs; and his former wife Joanne Jean Yeaton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation (alzinfo.org).

“I've been thinking about Cran lately. The town or state put up one of those mobile speed monitoring devices and it actually seemed like people were going slower on the whole. I loved when he used to walk out to the edge of the road and "give em heck." "30mph!" he would yell, draped in his reflective vest. I miss him.”
