We are sad to announce that on February 12, 2024, at the age of 93, Virgil Eugene Wenger of Darien, Connecticut, born in Salina, Kansas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Wenger and Rosa Wenger; his brothers, Norman and Les (Mary Gay); and his nephew Dan.
He is survived by: his close friend Arthur Young; his wife Jo Putney of Darien; his children, David Wenger (Elizabeth) of Darien, Michael Wenger (Linda) of Gordonsville, VA, Derrick Wenger (Nana) of Coconut Grove, FL, Susan Leatham (John) of Anderson, SC, Karen Finn (Tom) of Darien and Melissa McConnell (Chris) of Burlington, VT.; his grandchildren, Amanda, Derek, Ashley, Ryan, Matthew, Michaela, Connor, Rachel, Lucas, Dylan, Christian, James, Elizabeth, Riley, Charlie, Erik, Luke and Kate; his brother Bruce (Suzie) of Tulsa, OK; and also Nora. He is also survived by nine loving nephews and nieces.
He was also a past Trustee and Chairman of the New York Rotary Foundation and dedicated time to teaching kids in Harlem the basics of economics and managing money.
