He was predeceased by: his parents, George Smith and Josephine Smith; his wife Barbara Chudy Smith; his son William Smith; and his brother Philip Smith.

He is survived by: his daughter Lori Palau (Jay); his grandchildren, Robert Smith (Fotini), Joseph and Vanessa Palau; and his great grandchild Willow Smith.
