Robert Louis Anger Sr. Obituary
Robert Louis Anger Sr., 93, of Redding, Connecticut, passed away at Danbury Hospital on December 30, 2024. He was born on November 5, 1931, in East Hartford, Connecticut, to Joseph Anger and Helen (Gunzy) Anger.
Robert (Bob) proudly served in the United States Army and later owned and operated his own Pepperidge Farm bread franchise, a business he ran with dedication for over 30 years. His strong work ethic and kind, easygoing nature left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Cynthia Anger (Jeffrey Hellman) and Robert L. Anger Jr.; two grandchildren, Michael and Allison Hellman; and his brother, Donald Anger.
In addition to his family, Bob had many hobbies and interests that brought him joy. Throughout his life, Bob was devoted to his wife of 54 years, Millie, who predeceased him in 2009. He enjoyed traveling across the country and attending parties and events with her. In his later years, Bob took pride in caring for his property and working the land, particularly growing raspberries and cutting and splitting wood even into his 90s. Bob loved watching sports and talking about politics at home with family and friends before a crackling fire and regularly followed his beloved New York Giants and Knicks.
The family will receive visitors at the Bethel Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, between 5:00 and 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church in Bethel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob's memory to the Disabled American Veterans at http://www.dav.org.
Bob will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
