Robert G. Howard Sr. Obituary

Robert G. Howard Sr., 67, of Danbury, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Danbury Hospital.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury.

Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in St. Anthony Church on Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 4 PM to 7 PM.

Danbury, Robert "Bobby" George Howard, 67, beloved and devoted father, grandfather, brother, friend and family man entered into eternal rest on January 16, 2024.

Bobby was born in Danbury on August 2, 1956, the eldest of three sons born to the late George and Mamie (Salom) Howard.

Bobby was best known throughout Danbury as an extremely hard-working kind, generous, humble man who adored his family and had a big heart.

In time of need, he was the ultimate helper. He was a man of deep faith and believed his role in life was to help others and give back. Anytime, day or night, he made himself available to family and friends. In fact, he would often set aside his own schedule to help others.

He was a lifelong Danbury resident and attended Danbury public schools. He was a very good athlete and participated in gymnastics, baseball and soccer. He also coached baseball and softball in several local Danbury leagues.

His professional plumbing career spanned 47 years, beginning in 1974 upon graduation from Henry Abbott Tech, where he was recently inducted into the school's Wolverine Hall of Fame, and ending in his retirement from Danbury Hospital in 2021. He also maintained his own Champ's Plumbing Company for many of those years.

He enjoyed yard work, cooking, entertaining, learning and teaching anything mechanically related. Bobby looked forward to his Wednesday night set back card games with friends and his Thursday night get togethers with his "sister," cousin Barbara and her family. Bobby also loved visiting his brothers and his Texas cousins, with whom he shared a special bond.

His greatest fulfillment was the pride he had in his children and grandchildren, especially supporting their involvement in sports, hobbies and activities. He was their biggest cheerleader.Bob became famous for his sense of humor and playful antics. Starting one of his many monologue's, with "True story" or when exclaiming "Hey, it's almost Sunday," chastising someone after they uttered a curse word. He even developed his own charming colloquialisms (much like Yogi Berra), which affectionately became known as Bobbyisms.

Most important to him was his relationships and he didn't hesitate to reach out on a daily basis. He called his brothers and children everyday and often talked to his friends who he considered members of his family.

To cherish his memory are the pride and joy of his life, his children Stephanie Howard of Westport, Erica Howard of Danbury and Robert Howard Jr. of Danbury; and his two granddaughter's, whom he loved and treasured deeply, Bella Lore and Brielle Francisco, who affectionately called him "Bobpoo.". He is also survived by his ex-wife Donna Mancuso of Myrtle Beach, SC. His brothers Michael Howard (Wanda), Lexington, SC. and George Howard (Lisa) Columbia, SC.
