She was predeceased by: her husband George J. Schmaltz; her parents, Robert Ewald and Margaret Ewald (Brede); and her siblings, Robert G. Ewald and Margaret Larson.
She is survived by: her children, Jeffrey E. Schmaltz (Susan) of South Dakota, Judith Schmaltz Crowley (Michael) of Smithfield and Janet P. Schmaltz of Rocky Hill; her granddaughters, Margaret Crowley, Abigail Titmas and Caitlin Zaino; her stepgrandchildren, William Sperry and Yvette Goins; and her cousin Sally Ann Brown. She is also survived by several great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
