He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Joan S. Carlson; his parents, Oscar W. Carlson and Ebba Carlson (Nylund); his children, Roy Carlson, Dori Reinhalter (Mark) and Valerie Furey (Timothy) of Bristol Connecticut; his grandchildren, Gregory Carlson, Julianne Carlson, Troy Reinhalter, Emma Reinhalter, Grace Reinhalter, Hanna Furey, Lacey Furey and Conor Furey; his great grandchildren, Taye Legall and Lucas Phillips; and his brother Frank Carlson.
