He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Karrenberg and Fredricka Karrenberg; and his brothers, Charles, Paul, Frederick and Albert.

He is survived by: his wife Anna Karrenberg (Warschauer); his children, Walter Karrenberg Jr. (Suzanne) of Waterford, CT, James Karrenberg (Elizabeth) of East Hampton, CT, Mary Orlando (Jimmy) of East Meadow, NY and Katherine Albanese (Robert) of Deer Park, NY; and his grandchildren, Jill Karrenberg (Richard Crane), Dominic Albanese (Nicole), Jacqueline Canko (Frank), Vincent Orlando, Katrina Albanese, Coley Orlando, Maxwell Karrenberg and Jacob Karrenberg. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the 101st Airborne Division Association.
