It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Elsie Straube of Chester, Connecticut, born in Swansea, Massachusetts, who passed away on August 15, 2021, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Amaral and Aldina DeJesus Raposo of Sao Miguel, Azores.; her husband Harold M. Straube; and her siblings, Etelvina, Maria and John Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Barry (Patricia), Mark (Kathy), Heidi, Peter (Heather) and Maria Whitehouse (Jim); her grandchildren, Christopher, Christie Masinick (Mike), Andrew (Lauren Doll), Jonathan, Laurie, Dustin (Julia), Morgan Whitehouse and Zack Whitehouse; her great grandchildren, Michael Masinick, Annabelle Masinick, Virginia Masinick, Wren Procopio and Leona Straube; and her nephews, John Romano (Peggy) and Louis Romano.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The Wadsworth Athenium Museum of Art in Hartford, CT, The Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, CT, or the Estuary Council of Seniors in Old Saybrook, CT.
