He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Karl Hedman, Sr. and Mary Ann Hedman (Tuohy); and his brother Jeffrey Hedman. He is survived by: his sons, Michael Dyer of Torrington, CT and Donald Dyer of Florida; his grandchildren, Alyssa Arlene Dyer of Thomaston, CT and Joseph Daniel Dyer of Thomaston, CT; his siblings, Tracy Hedman of Oswego, NY and Annalee Capobianco of Cheshire, CT; and his nephews, Tracy Hedman of Oswego, NY and Jessie Hedman of Oswego, NY. He is also survived by two aunts and many cousins.
