She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Daniel Sullivan and Anna Sullivan; her children, Russia, China, Vietnam, Mexico, Spain and Ireland; her brother John; her daughter Marcella; her husband Peter; her son Pete (Karen) of Brookfield; her son-in-law Geoffrey Brayton of Middlefield; her daughters, Joan Ellen Gereg of Sandy Hook, Diane Lawrence (Jonathan) of Newtown, Marita Gereg of Farmington and Patrice Fahey (Thomas) of Newtown; her grandchildren, Catherine, Mae Gereg, Emmett, Spencer Brayton, Ian, Kim-Li, Joanelle, Kevin Tran, Daniel, Caroline, David Lawrence, Alec, Gillian Gereg, Evelyn, Sean and Shaylyn Fahey; and her friend Carol Stiff. She was also cherished by grandmother but a mentor and guide as the grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, Joan asked that a donation be made to The Friends of Brookfield Library.
