It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sophie L. Gruby of Bristol, Connecticut, born in Meriden, Connecticut, who passed away on February 15, 2023, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Jacob Laska and Josephine Laska (Kares); her children, Sophie and Sean Gruby; and her brothers, Stanley and John Laska.

She is survived by: her husband William R. Gruby; her children, Jennifer LaCart (Andy) of Bristol, Richard Gruby (Samantha) of Georgia, Joseph Gruby of Bristol, Ann Beede (Brandon) of Arizona and Phillip Gruby of Bristol; and her grandchildren, Maddison (William Hunter Gruby), Tyler and Kaylee Beede. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Church Ladies Guild, 510 West St., Bristol, CT 06010.
