He was predeceased by: his parents, William Downing and Natalie Downing (Duguay); his son Jon Downing; his siblings, Genevieve Morris, Esther Stewart, Robert, Joseph and Emery Downing; and his former wife Patricia Downing (Daly).
He is survived by: his wife Susan Powers; his daughters, Mary Downing of Bristol, Jean Downing (Patrick McCabe) of Bonita Springs, FL, Amy (Herdlein) and Griffing (Josh) of Simsbury; and his grandsons, Louis and Zachary Griffing. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
