He was predeceased by: his parent Martin Purcell; and his siblings, Martin Purcell, Patrick Purcell, Thomas Purcell and Helen Mulhern.
He is survived by: his parent Edith Purcell (Schmidt); his wife Marie Purcell; his children, James Purcell (Norma), Diane Devnew (Doug) and Nancy Smith (Tim Manke); his grandchildren, Lauren Fournier (Jeffrey), Kristen Cowell (Christopher), Sarah Purcell (Joseph Dionne), Kelly Purcell (Christina Clout), Jimmy Purcell, Michael Smith (Shelby), Jessica Gumula (Jared) and Leah Philipp (Ryan); and his great grandchildren, Kalie, Ashley, John, Cameron, Madilynn, Charlotte, Vada and Scarlett. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
