He was predeceased by: his parents, Gustave Sonstroem and Elfreida Sonstroem (Jabs); and his brother Rolland Sonstroem. He is survived by: his sons, Barry Sonstroem of Bristol, Timothy Sonstroem (Linda) of Burlington, Jeffrey Sonstroem (Laurie) of Bristol and Jaime Sonstroem (Andrea) of Virginia; his grandchildren, Joel Sonstroem (Kristy), Amy Mularczyk (Artur), Emily Sonstroem-Seagraves (Dylan) and Rebecca Skirkanich (Michael); his great grandchildren, Luke, Marion and Hayden; his sisters, Beverly Zahnke of Bristol and Joyce Killiany (Dick) of Bristol; and his brothers-in-law, Harry Hintz (Janice) of North Carolina and Andy Wilken of New Mexico. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Gordon's life can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church and School.
