He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Gates and Catherine Gates (Sprague); and his siblings, Frank, George Gates, Lillian Snyder and Hazel Turner.
He is survived by: his wife Elsie Gates (Bonola) of Bristol; his children, Pamela Munger (Richard), Steven Gates (Joan) and David Gates (Barbara); his grandchildren, Nicholas Munger, Allison Munger, Jennifer St (Ron), Andrew Gates, Leonard Gates (Jackie) and Jeffrey Gates; and his siblings, Chester of Putney, VT, Robert, Donald Gates of Mount Holly, VT and Etta Kennett of Springfield, VT. He is also survived by his six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
