He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Leon Kaplan and Lillian Kaplan (Subeck); his brother Judge Jonathan J. Kaplan; his brother-in-law Ronald M. Burde, MD; his nephew David Kaplan; and his great-nephew Dylan Newman.

He is survived by: his wife Cynthia G. Kaplan; his sons, Eric Kaplan (Maiko Kaplan) and Stephen Kaplan (Heather Walsh); his grandchildren, Benjamin, Lauren, Bridget, Jasper, Naomi, Hana and Aila; his sister Sharon Burde; and his sisters-in-law, Linda Kaplan and Dolores Newman.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 29th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Adath Israel Cemetery (714 Pine St, Middletown, CT 06457).
