Claire Smith Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Claire Smith of Branford, Connecticut, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 20, 2025 at the age of 100. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her spouse Denison C. Smith; her parents, Edward Brietweiser and Marion Kiernan Brietweiser; her sister Marion; her brother-in-law Frederick Webster; her aunt Kathleen Ekblade; and her uncle Joseph Kiernan.
She is survived by: her children, Patricia Lonergan (William) of Branford, Margaret Smith of Branford, Maureen Welch of Branford and Denison Smith, Jr. of Branford; and her grandchildren, Debra Conte (Rick), Carolyn Thompson (Tony), Douglas Welch, III, Amy Welch Mangels (Timothy), Bridget Alfone (Anthony), Erin Smith and Kelly Polce (Adam). She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the W.'s. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home (244 N Main St, Branford, CT 06405). A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 at 9:30 AM and from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM.
