She was predeceased by: her parents, Finley Way and Sallie Harrington (McMiller); and her brother-in-law John Henry Reed. She is survived by: her husband Harold Reed; her daughters, Donna R. Mims (Ja'Keem) of Bloomfield and Raishowna M. Collins of West Hartford; her grandchildren, Kai A. Fleming, Malia D. Miller and Micah J. Mims; her siblings, Claretha W. Thomas (David) and James Harrington; her nieces and nephews, Mason Brown, Dwayne Brown, Jerold Quince, Loren Mandeville, Kirby J. Reed, Reuien O. Reed, Tangela Thompson and Jonelle Reed; her siblings-in-law, Carole Reed, Sharon Reed, Darlene Reed and Kirby Reed; and her friends, Patricia Hawkins, Jeannie Henderson Minter, Carla Mims and Sophie Ferrell. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
