He was predeceased by: his sons, Charlie A. Brown and Jerry Hughes, Jr.; his grandson Jerry Hughes, III; and his sisters, Emma Meyers and Blanche Clabon.

He is survived by: his children, Edward A. Brown of Bloomfield, Michael A. Brown of New Britain, Zelda Gray (Flide) of East Hartford and Nicole Helen Hughes of Bloomfield; and his grandchildren, Lee, Shawn, Kia, Stephanie, Mya and Kiana. He is also survived by his six great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
