He is survived by: his children, Pamela Burney of Bloomfield, CT, Terence Burney of East Hartford, CT, Annika Burney of Hartford, CT and Jeanette Burney of East Hartford, CT.; his grandchildren, Damesha Portis, Jayden Burney, Isaiah Timothy and Caleb Burney; his friend Betty Carson of East Hartford, CT.; his sisters, Irene McCullough of Ocala, FL, Rosa Burney of Ft. McCoy, FL, Inez Burney of Douglasville, GA, Barbara Gordon-Cobb of Ocala, FL and Carrie Woods (Robert) of Ft. McCoy, FL.; his sisters-in-law, Mattie McGovern (James Sr.) of Bloomfield, CT and Joyce Burney of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.; and his son Calvin Portis of Bloomfield.
