He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Messner and Alice Messner (Benson). He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Messner (Atwood); his children, Patricia Reed (Joseph) of Woodbury, Sharron Famigletti (John) of Naugatuck and David Messner; his close friend Stamford; his grandchildren, Jason Ashton (Christen), Michael Messner, Anna Dutkanicz (Steven), Megan Janulawicz, William Messner and Erin Reed; and his great grandchildren, Matthew, Amber, Steven Dutkanicz, Payton, William Messner, Richard Janulawicz and Julian Ashton.
