He was predeceased by: his parents, Evans James Byrd Sr. and Clara Peagler; his stepfather William Peagler; his sister Antoinette Collins; his nieces, Tracy Collins and Kimberly Collins Morton; his nephew Hugh Jeffrey Collins; and his great-niece Nova Collins.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Byrd of Kensington; his sister Lenore; his brother-in-law Leon Brown of Clinton; his nephew Matthew Byrd (Patricia) of Berlin; and his niece Jessica Byrd-Painter (Eric) of Farmington. He is also survived by grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home (411 S Main St, New Britain, CT 06051). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Crossroads Church of God (146 Hudson St, Berlin, CT 06037). A burial will be held on Monday, April 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the State Veterans Cemetery (317 Bow Ln, Middletown, CT 06457).
