He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Murphy and Julia Murphy (Bens); and his sisters, Kathleen, Margaret and Julia.

He is survived by: his wife Joan; his children, Tim (Lisa) of Stamford, CT and Kelli (R. J.) of Louisville, CO; his grandchildren, Maeve and Conall; and his sister Rita. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
