He was predeceased by: his grandmother Delfina Chavez; his parents, Celestino Chavez and Madeline Phyllis Chavez; and his brother Charles Chavez. He is survived by: his wife Joann; his grandchildren, Joanie Arguello (Don), Jim and Jeannie; his great grandchild Braelynn Smith; his sisters, Betty Lou Montoya (Jim) and Bella; and his cousin Delphine Ortega.
