She was predeceased by: her parents, Dick McKewan and Katie Pablita Trujillo McKewan (Kanapatch); her husband Wilbert Root Sr.; her daughter Illana Root Chee; and her siblings, Richard McKewan, Clara Jenkins, Kathleen Hatch and Fredrick McKewan.
She is survived by: her children, David Root of Towaoc, Timothy Root of Towaoc, Valerie Root of Towaoc, Lillian Murray (Francisco Ramirez) of Towaoc, Wilbert Root Jr. of Towaoc and Rozalia Morgan of Towaoc; and her sister Gardenia Murray of Fort Duchesne, Utah.
