He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Hessel and Anna Hessel; his siblings, Darold Hessel, Evelyn Simpson, Ruby Barstow and Lenora Hall; and his wives, Esther Hessel and Sylvia Amos.

He is survived by: his daughters, Mary Sue Piatti, Candy (Joe Molter) and Peggy (Larry Martinez); his great grandchildren, Laura, Eric Coleman, Angie, Tom Hewitt, Michael Martinez, Stacy and Brian Beavers; and also, Preston, Braden, Mason and Cole. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
