She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Stratman and Lena M. Stratman (Schrage); her siblings, Norbert, Dale, Charles, Verdell Stratman, Gertrude Hamsa and Mary Ann Stratman; and her grandson George Slade III.

She is survived by: her husband Robert Montgomery; her children, Linda Slade (George), Lorraine Legates (Bruce), Sandy Newsome (Bob), Melissa Allen (Wes) and Bob Montgomery (Kim); and her sister Lena Schritter. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made in Joan's name to St. Anthony's Catholic Church in care of Tennant Funeral Home, PO Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751.
